Refusing to bow down to pressure as Muslim extremists across the globe continued to protest against him, French Prime Minister Emmanuel Macron insisted that violence cannot be justified. He shared a video of the interview where he spoke with Arab broadcaster AlJazeera.
“I can understand that people could be shocked by the caricatures, but I will never accept that violence can be justified. I understand the feelings this stirs, I respect them. But I want you to understand my role: my role is to calm things down as I’m doing here, and to protect those rights,” Mr Macron said.
“I will always defend in my country the freedom to say, to write, to think, to draw. Deciding to boycott a country, a people, because a newspaper said something in our country, is crazy,” he added.
