Violence was reported in at least four states across India as the country celebrated the final day of Navratri, Ram Navami on Sunday. Gujarat reported one death while Khargone in Madhya Pradesh, Lohardaga in Jharkhand, Bengal and Delhi also witnessed violence.
Three cops were injured in Khargone and all large gatherings have been banned. Madhya Pradesh minister Kamal Patel tweeted, “In Khargone today, anti-social elements tried to spoil the atmosphere of the city. I have spoken to the IG (inspector general) and the collector over phone and instructed them to take strict action against the miscreants, stone pelters and culprits will not be spared, we will not spare those who take law in their hands.”
