PM Modi talks of promoting local ventures in latest Mann Ki Baat. Watch video

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation Sunday with his latest edition of Mann Ki Baat. This time, it was a video address streamed live online. Emphasizing on local production of goods and services, Modi mentioned toy industry, apps and games for digital marketand even Indian breed of dogs to be promoted as part of government’s Atmanirbhar movement.

A look at salient features of PM’s speech

Encouraging the local toy industry, Modi said, “India has brilliant and skilled craftsman who develop toys. Some parts of India are developing as toy clusters such as Kondaplli in Andhra Pradesh, Channapatna in Karnataka, Varanasi in UP, Dhubri in Assam, Thanjavur in Tamil Nadu and many more. The country needs to work together to develop this industry. To my start up friends, I would say TeamUp and Toys. Come, Let us make toys together. It is time to become vocal for local toys.”

The PM also urged youngsters to make mobile games based on Indian themes, asking them to make the country Aatmanirbhar (independent) in all the sectors including this virtual sector.

Modi also emphasized on the importance of nutrition. “The country will observe September as Nutrition Month. There is a strong bond between nation and nutrition.” Along with children’s nutrition, it is necessary that mothers also get required nutrition. People participation is essential in this movement of nutrition. There have been continuous attempts to organize competitions among children to increase awareness. Just like class monitor there should be a nutrition monitor and similar to report card there should be a nutrition card. He also talked about the Nutrition Par in Gujarat near the statue of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel.”

He also appreciated the role of teachers in the current times as the society fights coronavirus pandemic.
