Rainfall, hailstorm expected over next few days in these parts of India

The Indian metreological department has predicted hailstorm and snowfall in several parts of northern and eastern India this week. According to their latest report, the heat wave will also continue over parts of Bihar, Odisha and Bengal.

Due to a cyclonic circulation over northeast Assam and a trough over north Bihar and Manipur in lower tropospheric levels, fairly widespread rainfall and snowfall is expected in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura this week.


Sikkim may face isolated light to moderate rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm & lightning & gusty winds on Monday, Tuesday, while isolated hailstorm is expected on Wednesday.

Hailstorm and rainfall are also likely to occur in Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand on Tuesday. The same day, Punjab, western region of Madhya Pradesh, eastern Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Jharkhand may face thunderstorm and scattered rainfall.

IMD also predicted heat wave conditions are very likely to prevail in many places over Odisha, Bihar, Gangetic West Bengal, Rayalaseema, Sub-Himalayan West
Bengal & Sikkim, Saurashtra & Kutch, Rayalaseema; Telangana, Karnataka, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam in the coming five days.
