India has registered 3.54 million covid 19 cases till date, with 76472 fresh cases reported in past 24 hours alone. A total of 63498 deaths have been reported due to covid 19 and of these, 1021 deaths were reported in past 24 hours alone. India continues to be the third worst hit country in the world after the United States and Brazil, recording highest single-day surge in cases since August 4. India’s positivity rate currently stands at 7.46 per cent while the fatality rate is 1.79 per cent.
The worst-hit states in India – Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh – reported the highest number of fresh cases in past 24 hours and these five states also recorded the highest number of deaths.
Meanwhile, cases have been reported world over and 834000 people have died till date due to coronavirus.
The central government has announced fresh guidelines to be followed by citizens all over the nation as India enters Unlock 4 on Tuesday, September 1. Metro services, open air theatres are set to begin operating in the next phase of ending the pandemic induced lockdown that began in March this year.
Starting September 21, public gatherings will be allowed with a ceiling of 100 persons. This includes social and religious gatherings.
