Sushant Singh Rajput death mystery lost in the glamourous drama of Bollywood and drugs

Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead at his Mumbai residence on June 14. Mumbai Police said he died by suicide. However, a month later, Sushant’s family filed an FIR in his hometown, Patna, alleging he was murdered. Three top agencies of the country – the Enforcement Directorate (ED), the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) – are currently investigating Sushant’s death.

Months later, it has all been reduced to high-tension drama about who consumes drugs in the film industry.  “All attention is being diverted towards the drugs case. Today, we are helpless as we don’t know which direction the case is going in. Till today, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has not done a press briefing on what they have found out,” said Vikas Singh, lawyer of Sushant. “The agencies are being pressurized to reach a pre-determined result for obvious reasons on the eve of Bihar Elections. We have seen the VRS of DG Pandey unfolding a few days back. There should not be a repetition of such steps,” Mr. Singh said in his statement.

The late actor’s father KK Singh lodged a complaint with Patna Police against Rhea Chakraborty (late actor’s girlfriend) and her family, he accused them of cheating his son financially and mentally harassing him forcing him to suicide. Later, FIR was transferred to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Further, two other central agencies, Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and Enforcement Directorate (ED) are also investigating the case.

Rhea Chakrobarty, the prime accused, along with her brother Showik Chakrobarty was arrested by NCB on September 8 in several drug cases. NCB accused the actress of organizing drugs for Sushant Singh Rajput and described her as “an active member of a drug syndicate.” In her bail plea, the arrested actress said she has been subjected to witch-hunt accusing NCB to deliberately trying to raise rigorous charges against her and her family.

He further said, the pace of CBI probe into Sushant Singh Rajput’s death had “suddenly slowed down” and all attention was being diverted to drugs-related issues with the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) conducting a “fashion parade” of Bollywood stars. “Today, we are helpless as we don’t know which direction the case is going in. Normally a press briefing is done by CBI. But in this case, till today, CBI has not done a press briefing on what they have found out. This is a very serious issue,” Mr Singh added.

“The Central Bureau of Investigation is conducting professional investigation related to death of Shri Sushant Singh Rajput in which all aspects are being looked at and no aspect has been ruled out as of date,” the agency said in a statement after Mr. Singh questions the diversion of case.

In a drug probe linking to Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, the agencies have questioned various Bollywood celebrities including Shraddha Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, etc.

Meanwhile, we can safely say that drug consumption may not be the concern here – Bollywood is not the only place where you find them. According to statements of police from different states, Bhadohi police arrested 191.324 kg of marijuana and one extra truck container, three old tractors, and one Etios car total worth Rs. 7,50,000 and 3 hate accused under Section 8/20 NDPS and 207 Model Vehicle Act. Further, UP STF in Chandauli district, seized 978 kg of marijuana being smuggled from Andhra Pradesh to Mathura.

There are multiple reports of seizing marijuana from various parts across the country. This shows the widespread business of drugs in the country. Dragging Bollywood stars into the drug probe clearly shows the diversion of case.

Now, the case has opened various brutal phases which are hardly relevant to the case and hence clearly diverting the case. With the involvement of several probe agencies the case has led to a political row as well.
