The government of Kerala has banned the gathering of more than 5 people under section 144 of CrPC effective from October 3 for one month as the tally for covid 19 crosses 2 lakh in the state.
On Thursday night, Chief Secretary Vishwas Mehta issued an order to contain the spread of the virus. All social, political and cultural events in the entire state from 9 am on 3rd October till October 31 shall remain prohibited.
Kerala has annulled the latest guidelines allowing gatherings up to 100 people outside hotspots under Unlock 5.0 announced by the Central Government.
The relaxations will continue for office goers, businesses and markets with strict adherence to the protocols required to control the spread of covid 19. The government has allowed the gathering of 50 people at wedding and 20 people at funeral.
“Strict restrictions shall be imposed in containment zones and in specific areas where the spread of the disease is apprehended. Existing relaxations for categories like weddings, funerals etc shall be continued and the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) concerned shall issue proceedings, considering the ground situation in their districts,” the order reads.
The state has observed a surge of 9,258 fresh coronavirus cases taking tally to 2,13,499 infections so far. The recovery rate stands at 63.3 % while 77,482 cases are still active. Further, the death toll reached at 791 with more than 20 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours.
