Cricketer Virat Kohli and actor-wife Anushka Sharma welcomed their first child, a baby girl on Monday. The cricketer informed fans about the development. Both the mother and child are healthy.
Announcing the news, Mr Kohli said in a statement, “We are thrilled to share with you that we have been blessed with a baby girl this afternoon. We thank you all for your love, prayers and good wishes. Anushka and the baby are both healthy and we are feeling beyond blessed to start this new chapter of our lives. We hope that you can respect our privacy at this time. Love, Virat.”
Virat had earlier talked about paternity leave and said he won’t miss it for anything. He had told reporters, “I will be flying back after the first Test and that was purely based on the fact that we have a quarantine period both ways and I had explained the same to the selectors during our selection meeting. I wanted to be back home in time to be with my wife for the birth of our first child and it is a very very special and very very beautiful moment in our lives and something I truly want to experience.”
“It is a decision that was absolutely clear in my mind. As committed as you are to play for your country, this is a very, very special moment in life and something that you want to be there for at any cost,” he had said.
