Monday is the third day of Navratri when devotees worship the Goddess as Chandraghanta.
The name is derived from the half moon that sits on her head and looks like a bell (ghanta). She is seen with ten hands and she holds weapons in them.
Goddess Chandraghanta is said to bless devotees with fame and power.
How to worship Maa Chandraghanta:
Devotees offer sindoor, kheer and cow milk to the Goddess. Offers to the Goddess is followed by a puja for Shiva. The devotees may chant the mantra ‘Om Ayam hreem Chandraghantaya namah’. Devotees also recite the Durga Saptashati after offering the puja when you have the goddess residing at home in the form of kalash.:
Goddess Chandraghanta is a said to dispel evil spirits with the sound of the moon-bell on her forehead.
What to eat and wear:
Grey is said to be the favourite colour of the Goddess and devotees should eat grey-coloured food and wear grey clothes.
