Uttrakhand govt moves Supreme Court against HC stay on Char Dham Yatra

The state government of Uttarakhand has moved Supreme Court and challenged the stay on Char Dham Yatra. The state government had decided on June 25 to allow local pilgrims to participate in the Char Dham Yatra on July 1. However, Uttrakhand high court had put a stay on it.

The government said in its appeal in the Supreme Court that the high court failed to look at the livelihood of significant portion of the population living around Char Dham sites, which depends on the Yatra. Claiming that the positivity rates in the districts of Char Dham sites are rather low, the state government had challenged the stay.
