In relief for parents of young children, covid 19 vaccines have been approved for the age groups of 5-12 and 6-12. The Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) granted emergency-use permission to Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin for children between the age group of 6-12. The development comes in the midst of a steep rise in coronavirus cases, especially among school-going kids.
For the first two months, Bharat Biotech is expected to submit data and analysis on any reported adverse events in relation with administration of the vaccine to the kids. Corbevax has also bee approved for children between the age of 5-12 years.
