Ahead of the scheduled panchayat meet to be held by Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lala Khattar, protesting farmers vandalised the venude Sunday morning. The CM has cancelled his visit to the Karnal venue, in wake of the attack.
Around 100 farmers were reported to have marched towards the Kaimla village helipad and vandalised the venue. Despite 1500 cops deployed at the venue, the protesters managed to enter and vandalise. They breached six checkpoints and arrived at the helipad and police lathi-charged against them. Water canons and teargas were also used.
Farmers have been protesting for more than 40 days now against the recently passed farm bills. They demand complete repela of the three laws while government has insisted, in seven different meetings with farmer leaders, that they are opne to amendments.
