Reprimanding the administration and seeking stricter measure, the Delhi High Court took suo motu cognizance after an AIIMS doctor shared pictures of crowds gathering in Delhi as the national capital opened up following months of covid-19 related restrictions.
Bar and Bench quoted a the court as saying, “The memory of the second wave has not left us, yet people behave in this manner. This is very unfortunate.”
The Division Bench of Justices Navin Chawla and Asha Menon also issued notices to the Delhi government and the Central Government. The next hearing in the matter will be taken up next on July 7.
Meanwhile, India has reported a total of 62,480 new covid 19 cases in last 24 hours.
