National president of Lok Janshakti Party Chirag Paswan has appointed a new chief of the party, in a sudden move to counter the recent upheavals in his party. Raju Tiwari is the party’s Bihar unit president.
Tiwari is considered close to Paswan junior. Earlier on Wednesday, he blamed the state’s ruling party, Janata Dal United (JDU) for the split in his party. However, he did not mention BJP.
Paswan said in a press conference, “During the Bihar elections and even before that, there was a constant attempt by some people and especially by the Janata Dal United (JDU) to break our party. This conspiracy was hatched when I was ill with typhoid. I even tried to speak to my uncle at that time but I failed.”
He added that as the party realised they could not continue their alliance with JDU, a few among them were not ready for the strufggle in breaking away from Nitish Kumar’s party.
Last year, he had compared himself to Hanuman and labelled Prime Minister Narendra Modi as Ram. Asked if Hanuman would now seek help from Ram, Paswan told reporters, “If Hanuman needs to ask for help from Ram, then how is it Hanuman and Ram?
Earlier this week, Pashupati Paras and four other members of Parliament broke away from the LJP and sought recognition from the Lok Sabha Speaker as a separate group. The rebel MPs “removed” Chirag Paswan from the post of LJP president after a meeting of five LJP MPs at Paras’ Delhi residence. In response, Paswan had urged the speaker to look into the laws broken in the process.
He said in his media interaction, “Today I have become an orphan after my uncle left me not when my father passed away,” adding that the “son of Ram Vilas Paswan, is a sher ka bachcha”.
