Covid 19 updates: India reports 5.56 lakh as global figure stands at 31.4 lakh

India reported 5.56 lakh covid 19 cases since the outbreak of the pandemic and among these 86961 were reported in last 24 hours alone. The country has reported 88,935 covid 19 deaths till date, 11390 being added in last single day.

While Maharashtra has reported 1224380 cases and 33015 deaths due to coronavirus, Andhra Pradesh has had 631749 confirmed covid 19 cases and 5410 deaths due to the virus.

The national capital of Delhi has registered 249239 covid 19 cases and 5014 covid 19 deaths and Bihar has had 169651 cases till date. Of these, 870 people have died in Bihar due to covid 19.

44,97,867 (80.86%) of the total cases are Recovered AND 9,75,861 (17.54%) of the total cases are active. 79% of the new recovered cases are being reported from ten States/UTs, viz. Maharashtra, Karnataka , Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, Odisha, Delhi, Kerala, West Bengal and Punjab

Secretary, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Shri Rajesh Bhushan said, “This is a matter of satisfaction and shows that the country’s standard treatment protocol formulated on the basis of inputs by scientists and treating doctors and discussions held with different stakeholders and the its implementation by various State and UT Governments is yielding results. It is also the outcome of the responsibility, hard-work and sacrifice of the health-care workers in the country”, said the Health Secretary. Early detection of cases, followed by isolation, seamless hospitalization has also contributed towards achieving highest recoveries and “all this has been possible because of an exponential increase in testing infrastructure in the country”, added Shri Bhushan. While 1 crore tests were done by 1100 labs in the country on 7th July, it increased to 3 crore tests by 1600 labs on 3rd August and 6 crore tests were done on 17th September by 1776 government and private labs taken together. “A substantial amount of credit for this achievement goes to the leadership shown by ICMR and the prompt participation in testing by the private sector labs”, also stated the Health Secretary.

Meanwhile, the world total tally for covid 19 has crossed 31.4 million and 967000 people have died due to covid 19.
