Covid 19: Are Rajasthan, Maharashtra headed for another lockdown?

With covid 19 cases on the rise in the country, Maharashtra and Bihar have been among the worst. Covid specific norms have been tightened in Amravati, Pune, Nashik, Pimpri Chinchwad, Aurangabad, Navi Mumbai, Thane, Kalyan-Dombivli, Yavatmal, Akola, Buldhana, Washim, apart from Mumbai and Nagpur.

Some salient features of the new norms are:

.All political, social and religious events will be banned for a few days.

. Essential services will be permitted in all districts between 8 am and 3 pm

.Nightime Lockdown declared in Amravati (Maharashtra) district from Saturday 8 pm to Monday 7 am.

Meanwhile, Rajasthan state government imposed Section 144 in Jodhpur till March 21.

Bihar’s daily count stayed little above 50, at 59 and the total active case load in the state in 547. Patna tops the list of districts with maximum new cases in the state – a count of 13 in past 24 hours and Purnia following closely with 7 cases.

High alerts have also been issued in Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat. People coming from high-risk states will be allowed in these statesonly after thermal scanning. Karnataka’s Kalaburagi district administration has also issued a travel advisory for Maharashtra.

With 14, 199 new covid 19 cases, India crossed 1.10 crore total cases on Monday. The active case load of the country stands at 1,10,05,850. The total coronavirus death toll increased to 1,56,385 with 83 new fatalities.
