India has crossed 28,36,925 total confirmed cases of covid 19 infection on August 20 and of these, 20,96,664 cases have been cured. The government claims to have conducted 3,26,61,252 tests, an achievement by its own measure.
Meanwhile, 22.4 million people have been detected coronavirus positive world over and 14.3 million have also recovered. There have been 788 thousand covid-related deaths all over the world. India has registered 53866 deaths owing to coronavirus till date.
Maharashtra remained on top with more than 21 thousand deaths till date and 1.60 active cases of coronavirus. The state has registered 6.28 lakh coronavirus positive cases till date. Andhra Pradesh came a distant second with 86725 active cases and nearly 2906 deaths due to covid 19.
Karnataka (.249 lakh), Tamil Nadu (3.45 lakh), Uttar Pradesh (1.67 lakh), West Bengal (1.25 lakh) and Bihar (1.12 lakh)continue to follow and have all registered more than a lakh cases till date. Except Bihar (487), all these states have witnessed more than 2 thousand covid deaths.

Meanwhile, the national capital region and Delhi remain badly affected. Gurugram currently has seven containment zones while Delhi has 456 demarcated containment zones. Noida is leading NCR with more than 250 containment zones.
