Muharram, Ganesh Chaturthi 2020: Delhi to have no tajia procession, public Ganpati idols

There will be no tajia processions this Muharram in Delhi as the government has not given permission to any such procession. Muharram falls Saturday, August 29.

“No permission has been granted for any procession/Tazia and religious gatherings. Orders under Section 144 CrPC have already been issued and we advise the citizens to observe the guidelines to prevent the spread of Covid19.”

” In view of Delhi Disaster Management Authority’s Order dated 14.08.2020, General Public is hereby advised to observe Muharram at their homes and not at Public Places at this time of Covid19 pandemic,” Delhi Police said in an order issued Friday.

Here is the complete order:

1) All Instructions/Guidelines issued by Govt. of India / Govt. of NCT of Delhi from time to time to contain the spread of COVID-19 be complied strictly in letter and spirit.

2) During Ganesh Chaturthi Festival, no idol of Lord Ganesha shall be set up in the public place, nor any kind of permission shall be granted for procession. People shall be encouraged and advised to celebrate the festival at their home only at this time of COVID-19 Pandemic.

3) Similarly, no permission shall be granted for procession/TM/a during Moharram Festivat and the public shall be encouraged / advised to celebrate the same at their homes and not at public places at this time of COVID-19 Pandemic.

4) District Magistrates and District DCPs shall convene meetings with religious / community leaders before every such festivaVoccasion which has the possibility of large gathering / congregation, to get their cooperation to maintain the law 8 order and harmony & also to sensitize public for .compliance of guidelines/ instructions issued for combating COVID-19 by Government from lime to time.

5) Sufficient police force shall be deployed in all communally sensitive areas and in containment zones throughout the NCT of Delhi

6) It should be ensured that crowd does not gather in any religious/ social place in any manner.

7) All necessary arrangements be made for checking during the festivals at all public places, Bus Stands, Railway Stations and sensitive/religious places in NCT of Delhi. 8) Due arrangements be made for deployment 01 005 Squads, Anti Terrorist Squads and Bomb disposal Teams for Intensive search and checking at religious / public places as per requirement.

9) Smooth & uninterrupted traffic at roads and public places be ensured. Necessary arrangements be made for checking of suspicious vehicles by erecting barricades and police check post(s) etc.

10)Strict compliance of Motor Vehicle Act be ensured during the festival time.

11)Sufficient emphasis should be made on providing important public facilities like electricity, water and hygiene/ cleanliness/ sanitization etc.

12)All the Government Hospitals shall be prepared in advance to deal with any emergent situation and doctors/ para-medical staff shall be on duty round the clock.

13) Special attention shall be given to anti-social elements and rumour mongerers.

14) Monitoring of social media platforms shall be done round the clock. Prompt action shall be taken against all objectionable posts by first blocking it and thereafter taking strict legal action.

15) Section 144 (CrPC) shall be imposed wherever required, and police authorities shall ensure implementation of the same.

16) There shall not be any demonstration of weapons/ arms in any form. Strict legal action be taken against the person(s) found in possession of illegal weapon/arms. 17)All necessary arrangements be made to ensure safety of wornen, children & senior citizens etc and sufficient police deployment (male & female police personnel) be made in civil dress at all public places.

18)All empowered authorities may resort to imposing fines for violating the directives/guidelines & offences pertaining to social distancing, wearing of rnask/ cover, spitting in public places etc. as per Notification dated 13.06.2020 issued by Hearth & Family Welfare Department.

19) All enforcement authorities/ field functionaries should be properly briefed about strict implementation of the guidelines/ instructions, one day before every festival / event. All authorities concerned including District Magistrates and District Dy. Commissioners Cl Police are directed to ensure compliance of aforesaid directives on ground in letter and spirit.
