NIA court convicts 9 SIMI terrorists in 2013 Patna serial blasts case

The National Investigations Agency special court, Patna has convicted nine SIMI terrorists belonging to the banned terrorist outfit Students’ Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) in relation with the Patna serial blast case.


The court pronounced judgement in cases RC-10, 11&12/2013 (Patna serial bomb blast cases) against 09 accused SIMI Terrorists and held them guilty.
Imtiaz Ansari alias Alam, Haider Ali, Numan Ansari, Mujibullah Ansari, Umer Siddique and Azharuddin Qureshi, Ahmad Hussain, Md. Firoz Aslam and Md. Ifteqaar Alam have been convicted.A series of bomb explosions took place at Patna Railway Junction and Gandhi Maidan on October 27 in 2013.

One explosion at Patna Railway Junction had resulted in severe injury to one accused Tariq Ajam who had subsequently died while undergoing treatment.

Six explosions had taken place at Gandhi Maidan Patna where Hunkar rally of BJP was being held and Narendra Modi, the then chief minister of Gujarat was also to attend. Six persons had died and more than 89 people got injured in the explosion at Gandhi Maidan.

The quantum of sentence against the 9 convicted would be pronounced by the NIA Special Court Patna on November 1, Monday.
