Metros, roads open up hours after violent eruptions amid farmers’ tractor rally

The metro services resumed on most stations and the entire grey line, hours after remaining interrupted due to the violence amid the tractor march scheduled for Republic Day, Tuesday.

“Vikas Marg to Yamuna Vihar is now open for traffic movement,”: Delhi Traffic Police said in a statement.

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) also announced, “Entry/exit has been permitted through one gate in the following stations — Samaypur Badli, Rohini Sector 18/19, Haiderpur Badli Mor, Jahangir Puri, Adarsh Nagar, Azadpur, Model Town, GTB Nagar, Vishwavidyalaya, Vidhan Sabha and Civil Lines.”

The tractor march was scheduled for Republic Day, Tuesday. However, the farmers deviated from the routes assigned by Delhi Police and also violated several of the 39-point guidelines handed by the Delhi Police to the protesting farmers.

The protesters also mobbed and vandalised several places around ITO, Lal Quila, among others. A man also hoisted a yellow-coloured flag at Red Fort
