Maharashtra imposes third lockdown, night curfew to curb covid 19 surge

With the state reporting highest number of daily new covid 19 cases, Maharashtra government has announced partial lockdown and stricter measures to curb the surge.

The state government imposed the new restrictions, starting 8pm on April 5. The state will observe night curfew from 8pm to 7am and only people engaged in essential services and those with a valid reason to step out of their homes will be permitted.

Weekends will be complete lockdown and gathering of more than five people from through the day – between 7am to 8pm – is also prohibited.

India reported 103,796 cases of Covid-19 on Sunday, surpassing the highest single day spike (99,181) that India saw in September last year.
