Mr Gambhir plans to open at least one such canteen in each of the 10 assembly constituencies in the area. As of now, the kitchen opens 11am to 3pm.
He shared a few pictures and tweeted, “Didn’t enter politics for drama or publicity but to see real CHANGE! Delhi’s first “Jan Rasoi” will provide nutritious food at ₹1! More to come! #FoodForAll.”
“I have always felt that everybody has a right to healthy and hygienic food irrespective of caste, creed, religion or financial condition. It is part of PM Narendra Modi’s vision that no one should remain hungry in the country. It is saddening to see that many homeless and destitutes are not being able to get even two square meals a day. It is my vision for Delhi that each and every person gets healthy food and clean water. I will keep working till this dream becomes a reality,” a Times of India report quoted him as saying at the event.
