Farmers protest: 2000 women from families of Punjab farmers who committed suicide, join movement

As per a report, more than 2,000 women joined the farmers’ sit-in protest near the Tikri border. These women are related to farmers from Punjab who had committed suicide.

Earlier, Supreme Court mooted formation of a committee to hold talks and settle the matter, while stating that government efforts to pacify the farmers had failed.

Meanwhile, agriculture minister Narendra Singh Tomar tweeted, “The new agriculture laws will bring about a revolutionary change in the lives of farmers.” He also claimed farmers of sugarcane will be given direct subsidy on export of sugar, in their bank accounts
