Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal announced Friday that his government will pay for the education of children orphaned due to coronavirus. He added that the healthcare of elderly who lost their children to the pandemic will also be covered.
“I know many children who have lost both their parents. I want to tell them that I am still there. Do not consider yourself an orphan. The government will take care of their studies and upbringing.I know elderly citizens who have lost their children. They depended on their earnings. I want to tell them that their son (Kejriwal) is alive. The government will help all such families who have lost their earning members,” he told reporters in a virtual press conference.
The CM also said that additional hospital beds and ventilators are being made available to help cope with the rising cases. “1,200 ICU beds are ready, will be operational either by today or tomorrow.”
