Covid 19 updates: India reports 5.4 million cases, 86852 deaths

India reported 5.4 million covid 19 cases till date and the country added 92,605 new confirmed cases in the last 24 hours.

India registered 96,424 fresh cases on Friday. India has seen deaths with 1,133  deaths in the last day alone taking the total death toll to 86852. India currently has 1010824 active cases.

52% of the new cases are concentrated in five states. These are also the States contributing the maximum to the new recoveries. Maharashtra contributed more than 20,000 (22.16%) to the new cases. Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka both have contributed more than 8,000.

While Maharashtra currently has 297866 active covid 19 cases, Karnataka has 98583 cases. Haryana has registered 1120 covid 19 deaths while the state has active cases, of total 108952 reported covid 19 cases till date.

Schools in Delhi will continue to remain closed for students of all classes till October 5, as per the latest directions issued by Delhi government’s Directorate of Education. The Union Ministry for Health and Welfare had allowed for schools outside containment zones to reopen from September 21 for students of classes IX to XII, stating that they may attend voluntarily if they want guidance from their teachers.

Jharkhand recorded 68,578 covid 19 cases till Saturday with 1,478 fresh cases and 12 deaths reported in last 24 alone. The state has seen 602 covid 19 deaths.

World over, 30.6 million covid 19 cases, and 953,000 deaths due to the virus till date. All over the world, infections have been reported in over 210 countries since the first cases were identified in China in December 2019. Indonesia reported its biggest daily rise in coronavirus infections, with 4,168 new cases on Saturday, taking the total to 240,687, data from the country’s health ministry showed. The data added 112 new deaths, taking the total to 9,448, the biggest death toll in Southeast Asia.

94,612 recoveries have been registered in the last 24 hours in the country. With this, the total number of recoveries has crossed 43 lakh (43,03,043). This has resulted in the Recovery Rate touching 79.68%. 60% of the new recovered cases are being reported from five States, viz. Maharashtra, Karnataka Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. Maharashtra continues to lead with more than 23,000 new cases of recovered patients. Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh both have contributed more than 10,000 to the single day recoveries.
