Child Rights Commission seeks action against Rahul Gandhi, Arvind Kejriwal

The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has issued a notice to Twitter India and sought action action against Twitter handles of Rahul Gandhi and Arvind Kejriwal for sharing pictures with victims of a rape and murder that recently took place in Delhi.

NCPCR chairperson Priyank Kanoongo confirmed the notice and and said the Twitter handles had violated POCSO Act by posting pictures of the parents of the 9-year-old girl who was raped-murdered.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi first announced about his pending visit to the parents and later posted pictures with them, extending his solidarity with the victim’s family. “The tears of her mother and father say just one thing – their daughter, the country’s daughter, deserves justice. And I am with them in this path to justice,” Gandhi had written in a post on Twitter.

A nine-year-old girl was found dead near a crematorium last week. Her mother claimed that she was threatened against filing a police complaint. A priest and few others have been arrested in relation with the rape and murder case.
