Haryana govt abolishes jobs vacant for two years

In a development that could mean further backlash against the state government, Haryana has decided to abolish all jobs posts that have been lying vacant for at least two years. The order came from Haryana’s financial department and applies to all departments with immediate effect. The order does not affect vacancies for which requistions have been sent to HPSC/HSSC.

The order was issued by Additional Chief Secretary (Finance) T V S N Prasad. It read as, “All posts whether newly created or old, kept in abeyance or which remain unfilled/vacant for last two years may be considered deemed abolished.”

It added, “Formal abolition orders are to be issued within one month by the department concerned under intimation to finance department (expenditure controlling branch) and the same should be updated on e-post in consultation with the finance department. Revival of post after two years will not be considered in any case.”

The orders came despite the state government facing allegations of low employment rate in Haryana.
