According to the data provided by the central government, India has registered 1,94,720 new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours. The active caseload currently stands at 9,55,319.
Maharashtra continues to lead the list of states with maximum Omicron cases – a total of 1,281. Rajasthan follows closely with 645 cases. The country has 4,868 active Omicron cases. Bihar has 27 and Delhi 546 Omicron cases. Uttar Pradesh has registered 275 and Haryana 162 Omicron cases.
Delhi reported the highest number of cases in a day since May 2021 – 21,259 fresh cases over the past one day. Private offices have been ordered shut and work from home in the national capital.
Karnataka registered 14,473 new Covid-19 infections and the covid restrictions have been extended till January 31. Bengaluru alone reported 10,800 cases.
