Gaya: One dead amid 17 rounds of firing near Abgilla, Naxals stall bridge construction in Imamganj

At least seventeen rounds of firing and stone pelting took place near a mosque in Ram Nagar Road Number 1 near Abgilla late Wednesday when a large group initiated the assault. Gaya Police has said that two people were injured in the firing and were taken to Anugrah Narayan Medical College Hospital. One of them died in the hospital while the other person is currently undergoing treatment and is out of danger.

The person who died has been identified as Salauddin Ansari and the person currently undergoing treatment is Mehboob. Cops said senior officials as well as the district magistrate visited the site and investigated the matter. Gaya Police assured separate team has been assigned for the matter and arrests will be made soon.

Meanwhile, the cops also reported another firing incident near Imamganj (Gaya) where a bridge is under construction. Labourers working at the site near Gangti village claimed four people came on bikes and fired some bullets before riding away. The assailants allegedly ordered the construction work to be stopped and asked for money. The contractor also claimed that he received threatening calls before the incident.
