Tokyo Olympics day 8: Kamalpreet Kaur enters finals; Tai Tzi Ying defeats PV Sindhu in semis

Indian athlete Kamalpreet Kaur entered the finals for the discus event Saturday at the ongoing Tokyo Olympic Games.

On the other hand, shuttler PV Sindhu lost to Tai Tzu Ying in the semifinals of the singles event and the Indian women’s hockey team secured quarterfinals. Sindhu will again play tomorrow, fighting for the bronze medal.

Pooja Rani also lost her quarterfinal women’s middleweight (75 kg) category match to China’s Li Qian. Anjum Moudgil and Tejaswini Sawant could not qualify for finals in 50m Rifle.

Earlier, boxer Amit Panghal was knocked out by Colombia’s Yuberjen Martinez in the Men’s Flyweight Round of 16 match. Archer Atanu Das also lost to Japan’s Takaharu Furukawa in the pre-quarterfinal match. Long jumper Murali Sreeshankar failed to qualify for the final.
