Maharashtra government has allowed colleges to function, starting February 15. However, it has mandated an attendance of 50 per cent students to ensure covid-specific social-distancing and other precautions.
Maharashtra’s higher and technical education minister Uday Samant also told reporters that the mandatory 75% attendance criteria for exams will be relaxed for the current academic year. He said, “We have decided to restart colleges and universities in the state from February 15. The colleges can conduct physical classes with 50% students in a class.”
It will be after ten months that the colleges will reopened, following the pandemic outbreak.
More than 3 lakh healthcare and frontline workers have been vaccinated in the state so far. Maharashtra currently has 42,000 active covid 19 cases.
