Kalicharan Maharaj was arrested from Khajuraho, Madhya Pradesh for his alleged comments on Mahatma Gandhi. Kalicharan had reportedly insulted Gandhi in his speech during the recently-held Dharm Sansad in Raipur, Chhatisgarh.
Cases have been registered against him in Tikrapara Police Station of Raipur and another one in Akola, Maharashtra. An ANI report quoted SP Raipur Prashant Agarwal as saying that the accused was staying near Bageshwar Dham and was arrested around 4am on Thursday.
Responding to the arrest, Home Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Narottam Mishra, said, “The action taken by Raipur Police has violated interstate protocol and the federal structure.”
