Gaya Police confiscates 1400lt liquor in a day

The cops in Bihar’s Gaya district confiscated liquor across many regions and it totalled to more than 1400 litre.

According to Gaya Police, 744.88 litre imported liquor, 770 litre mahua and 4 litre country liquor was confiscated on Sunday, February 12. Eight people have alsdo been arrested in relation with various cases related to illegal possession and sale of alcohol in Gaya.

The problem of illegal; liquor in the state has been on the rise. Several deaths were also reported over the past few months, due to consumption of toxic liqour.

It was late 2015, when Bihar CM Nitish Kumar had announced a ban on alcohol. The ban came in effect from 1 April 2016. As per the new rule, manufacturing, distribution, bottling, transportation, storage, collection, sale, purchase and even possession, of any intoxicant liquor is completely prohibited.
