India has reached a total tally of 47,54,356 covid 19 cases till date with 94,372 fresh cases in past 24 hours alone. Of these, 37,02,595 have recovered till date while 78,586 have died as per the government data. The total number of active cases in the country stands at 9,73,175 as on date. India has also reported 1,114 deaths in past 24 hours with Maharashtra registering the maximum number of 391 deaths followed by Karnataka with 94 deaths.
Among the cases reported in last 24 hours, Maharashtra alone reported 22,000 cases followed by Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka with more than 9,000 cases each. Nearly 57% of the new cases are reported from five States. These are also contributing 58% of the new recovered cases.
Maharashtra has more than 2,80,000 cases followed by Karnataka with more than 97,000 cases. Five states account for 60% of Total Active cases in the country viz. Maharashtra (28.79%), Karnataka (10.05%), Andhra Pradesh (9.84%), Uttar Pradesh (6.98%) and Tamil Nadu (4.84%).
Meanwhile, Delhi government had asked all private hospitals and nursing homes to reserve 80% of ICU strength for covid patients with immediate effect, in wake of the alarming rise in fresh cases in the national capital. “Due to surge in covid 19 cases, all nursing homes & private hospitals having bed strength of 50 beds or more, directed to reserve at least 80% of their total ICU bed strength for COVID patients with immediate effect,” said Delhi’s Health Department in a statement.
India has also reported a record 78,399 recoveries in the last 24 hours and the total number of recoveries has now touched 3,702,595 taking the recovery rate to 77.88%. Around 58% of the new recovered cases are being reported from five States, viz. Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh. Maharashtra continues to lead with more than 13,000 recoveries while Andhra Pradesh has contributed more than 10,000 to the single day recoveries.
World over, 28.8 million cases have been registered till date and a total of 921000 people have died due to coronavirus.
