India has registered a total of 68.4 lakh confirmed covid 19 cases till date, with 78,524 fresh cases being reported in past 24 hours alone. The country has seen 106000 covid deaths and recoveries since the outbreak of the pandemic. Around 986 people died due to covid 19 in past 24 hours.
Meanwhile, 36.1 million cases have been reported the world over and 1.05 million people have died due to the virus.
Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Kerala, Odisha, Telangana remain on top of the list for states with maximum number of infections.
As the country gears up for a festive season that lasts a few months starting mid-October, Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted, “India’s COVID-19 fight is people driven and gets great strength from our COVID warriors. Our collective efforts have helped saved many lives. We have to continue the momentum and protect our citizens from the virus. #Unite2FightCorona.”
Amid fears that the festive season may spark another spike in new coronavirus cases, the ministry for health and family welfare issued guidelines earlier this week.
