Babri verdict on September 30; Uma Bharti, LK Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi to be present in Lucknow court

A Special CBI court in Lucknow will pronounce the judgement of 1992 Babri Mosque Demolition case on September 30, 2020 and the main accused have been asked to be presentin the court.

S K Yadav, a special CBI Judge is expected to announce the verdict in which all the accused are asked to remain present.

BJP veterans LK Advani, Vinay Katiar, Uma Bharti and Murli Manohar Joshi are prominent among list of 32 accused. Earlier this month, the court had recorded the statements of all the accused under section 313 of the CrPC to complete the proceedings for a 28-year-old case.

This is the extended date granted by the Supreme Court as earlier the special CBI court was expected to announce the judgement on August 31, 2020. Before this, the Supreme Court has extended the deadline in July 2019 by six months, and asked the court to deliver the final verdict in nine months ended on April 19, 2020.

Ayodhya Prakaran, a special court was set up on April 19, 2017 by the Supreme Court to conclude the hearing in Lucknow by clubbing two cases, on related to the demolition and another to the instigation of crowd.

According to PTI, CBI counsel Lalit Singh said that arguments of defence and prosecution were concluded on September 1, and the special judge started writing the judgement thereafter. CBI has examined over 354 witnesses and 600 documents as evidences before the court. According to the report of Indian Express, of the total 49 accused booked in the case, 17 have died.

The list of accused includes: LK Advani, Uma Bharti, Kalyan Singh, Gandhi Yadav, Murli Maohar Joshi, Satish Pradhan, Sakshi Maharaj, Lallu Singh, Vijay Bahadur Singh, Naveen Bhai Shukla, Mahant Nritya Gopal Das, Ramji Gupta, Ram Chandra Khatri, Sudhir Kakkar, Santosh Dubey, Ram Vilas Vedanti, Om Prakash Pandey, Vinay Katiyar, Champat Rai, Dharmendra Singh Gujjar, Jai Bhagwan Goel, Vinay Kumar Rai, Brij Bhushan Singh, Kamlesh Tripathi, RM Srivastava, Amarnath Goel, Dharamdas, Pawan Pandey, Sadhvi Ritambhara, Jai Bhan Singh, and Prakash Sharna.
