Guidelines issued by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare for workplace settings

The union ministry of Health and Family Welfare, issued guidelines on preventive measures to be taken to contain the spread of #COVID-19 in workplace settings as more avenues are allowed to function in the fourth stage of the ongoing #lockdown amid the #coronavirus #pandemic. In order to give a kick to the stagnant economics of the country, some relief packages were also were announced.

Separate #guidelines were released regarding basic preventive measures, restrictions in government offices. Physical distance of minimum one meter needs to be maintained with compulsory use of face masks advised along with frequent washing of hands for all people going to offices. The proper disinfection practices at offices and self-monitoring by staff members is also needed.

Any member who reports symptoms of flu, will not be allowed to attend office and is ordered to seek immediate medical advice and authentic information should also be sent to the office authorities. The employees who request to work from home due to their residence in containment zones should also be given permission to do so.

Despite taking the above measures, the probability of spreading infection and occurrence of the cases cannot be eliminated. To handle such circumstances, the person with Covid-19 symptoms must be isolated from other employees at the workplace. The suspect should be examined till concerned central or state health authorities are informed about the same.

The high risk exposure contacts shall be quarantined for 14 days and need to undergo testing as per IMC protocols, whereas lower risk exposure contacts can continue to work by monitoring their health closely for next 14 days.

If an organisation reports one or two cases, there is no need to seal the workplace but the entire building would be closed for 48 hours if there is a large outbreak. Disinfection in the entire building will also be mandatory.
