Virbhadra Singh Congress leader dies at 87

Former chief minister of Himachal Pradesh, Virbhadra Singh died on Thursday at the age of 87. He was being treated at Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital (IGMC) in Shimla since April 23. He suffered cardiac arrest on Monday.

After hsi cardiac arrest, the Congress leader was shifted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of the hospital and was on ventilator support. He had earlier tested positive for the coronavirus twice in two months – on April 12 and June 11.

He was a nine-time MLA and five-time member of Parliament, was Himachal Pradesh’s chief minister for six terms. He represented Arki constituency in Solan district in Himachal Pradesh assembly.
