Bihar polls 2020: Tejashwi Yadav sharpens attack on PM Modi, CM Nitish

The run up to Bihar assembly elections 2020 was dirty as expected and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav was often seen attacking Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar.

Mr Kumar asked people to vote to “maintain the speed of development” in the state.

Urging people to vote, Mr Yadav also reiterated his promise to create 10 lakh jobs, if voted to power.

In a press statement, Mr Yadav also posed questions to PM Modi.

“Tomorrow Prime Minister Narendra Modi is coming to Bihar. I want to ask these questions from the double engine government of Delhi and Patna.”

Here are the questions:

  1. Darbhanga AIIMS was announced in 2015 but why announcement for the start of its work was done before the polls?”
  2. “PM is coming to Muzaffarpur. Will his combined government in Delhi and Patna speak on the Muzaffarpur shelter home case in which the Chief Minister is providing protection to the accused in the rape of 34 orphan girls?”
  3. “The BJP-JDU government has promised a super specialty hospital in Darbhanga and Muzaffarpur but the promise was not fulfilled nor the appointment of doctors done. The government has promised to build Skill University what happened to that promise?”
  4. “Will PM also discuss flooding in Patna and regarding the work of Patna Nagar Nigam regarding the crisis.
  5. He asked the Prime Minister to reveal to the people of Bihar that out of the 10 dirty cities of the country, six are from Bihar. “Why there is such a state of affairs in Bihar?”
  6. “Why is Nitish Kumar such a weak Chief Minister despite having 39 out of 40 NDA MPs, Patna University is still not given the status of a Central University?”
  7. “Will PM tell, why is the state with a huge population of youth there is unemployment. How many jobs are created by the Central government in six years and by the Bihar government in the last 15 years?”
  8. He asked why migration has taken place out of Bihar and why it is increasing?
  9. He also sought to know why students stranded in Kota and other migrant workers were stopped from coming to Bihar?
  10. He asked the Prime Minister why the accused in the Srijan scam have not been touched by CBI yet.
  11. Why they are roaming with the NDA leaders?

Earlier, Mr Kumar had taken a slant dig at Mr Yadav and his family. Responding to the CM, the RJD leader said, “By commenting on my family, Nitish Kumar is targeting PM Modi as he also has six siblings. By using such language, Nitish Kumar has insulted women and my mother’s sentiments. They don’t speak on main issues including corruption, unemployment etc.”

While addressing a poll rally, Kumar had taken a dig at Yadav’s father, RJD supremo and former CM Lalu Prasad Yadav, for having nine children, including sons Tejashwi and Tej Pratap, and seven daughters. Without taking the RJD supremo’s name, Kumar had accused him of having no faith in his daughters and promoting his two sons.“He (Lalu Yadav) has given birth to eight-nine children. He has no faith in his daughters. After several daughters, his sons were born. What kind of Bihar do you want? Is this the kind of Bihar you want? You can imagine the extent to which Bihar will be ruined. Everything will be destroyed,” Kumar had said.

Earlier, the RJD leader had responded to Kumar’s remarks on Twitter as well, posting, “Even bad words used by Nitish ji against me are like blessings to me. Nitish ji is mentally and physically tired and that is why he can speak whatever he likes. I treat his words like a blessing. This time Bihar has decided to vote on the issues of employment and development,” he tweeted.

Bihar went to polls on Wednesday. In the second phase, 94 constituencies will vote on November 3 and 78 will vote in the third and final phase on November 7.
