PM Narendra Modi announces optical fiber connectivity, infrastructure development projects for Bihar

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the state of Bihar through video conferencing and introduced the infrastructural development projects while emphasizing the importance of internet connection. Bihar’s Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, deputy Sushil Kumar Modi along with Shankar Prasad and other officials also attended the meeting through video conferencing.

In his speech, he laid the foundation stone of nine highway projects covering a distance of 350 kilometers worth Rs. 14,258 crores. According to PMO, “The highway projects include the construction of 3 large bridges, upgrading of highways into 4 lanes and 6 lanes. He said all rivers in Bihar will have bridges confirming to 21st-century specifications and all major NHs will stand widened and strengthened.”

“These roads will enhance better connectivity, convenience and economic growth in and around the state and movement of people and goods will also improve substantially, especially with the neighboring States of Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand,” read a PMO release.

The PM said around 6 lakh villages of Bihar will be connected through optical fibers and initiated ‘Ghar Tak Fiber’ Project in 1,000 days. He launched the Optical Fiber connectivity project for connecting around 45,945 villages of Bihar.

In his speech, PM said “Under this project in the next 1,000 days one lakh villages in the country will be connected through optical fibres. I have full faith that with Nitish Ji’s good governance, strong will the work will be completed fast in a rapidly developing Bihar.”

PM calls the passing of the agriculture reform bill a massive step towards farmer’s freedom to sell the produce anywhere. “Our farmers will benefit a lot from this, they will get real-time information about weather conditions, new techniques, seeds, crops, and practices. They will also be able to sell their produce anywhere in the country and abroad,” he further added.
