The list of recipients of Padma awards was announced Tuesday evening. India’s first CDS, late Gen Bipin Rawat has been posthumously awarded the Padma Vibhushan, along with late politician Kalyan Singh and Gita Press chairman Radheyshyam Khemka, who died last year. Actor Victor Banerjee will receive the Padma Bhushan while and filmmaker Dr Chandraprakash Dwivedi have been honoured with Padma Sri awards.
Pune’s vocalist Prabha Atre, who hails from the Kirana Gharana, has also been awarded Padma Vibhushan. Padma Bhushan awards will be given to CPI’s Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee and BJP’s Ghulam Nabi Azad. Malji Bhai Desai of the Congress party has been honoured with Padma Shri.
Athlete Neeraj Chopra has also been honoured. Sundar Pichai and Satya Nadella have also been honoured with the Padma awards.
