Nitish Kumar: Onions thrown at him during rally, Chirag and Tejashwi attack CM

Even as Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar faced an “onion attack” during one of his election rallies, opposing party leaders LJP chief Chirag Paswan and RJd’s chief ministerial candidate Tejashwi Yadav trained their guns at Mr Kumar.

Mr Paswan tweeted, “Merely distraught to save his chair, trailing behind the Prime Minister @NitishKumar It shows concern for Zee’s chair. It is there who stopped the wheel of development in 2014 in the country.@narendramodi Opposed Ji’s name and today we are longing for the grace of Prime Minister.”

He also said, “You can get me to give you in writing that Nitish Kumar will never again be the CM after November 10. I will have no role to play, I want ‘Bihar first, Bihari first’. I want work to be done as per the vision document prepared by suggestions of four lakh Biharis. People evicted big people from power because of their arrogance. The Chief Minister does not have any roadmap.”

Mahagathbandhan’s chief ministerial candidate Yadav, had earlier said people will vote for “tsunami of change”, and on the agenda of education, healthcare, inflation. However, he also criticized the attack on the CM with onions. “Today in the election meeting someone threw onion to the respected Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. This is completely condemnable, undemocratic and undesirable behavior. In democracy, the expression of resistance should be only in voting and no method can be acceptable except this,” he tweeted.

The CM was promising jobs when he was attacked with onions during a poll rally in Madhubani. As the onions missed him, Mr Kumar said, “Khub feko, khub feko, khube feko (keep throwing). He even asked the cops to let go of the attacker when they caught him. “Let him go, don’t pay any attention to him.”

The first phase of Bihar assembly elections was held on October 28 and the second phase was held on Wednesday. The third and final phase of polling will be held on November 7. The counting of votes will take place on November 10.

The second phase registered a lower voter turnout than the first phase of polling. It was 54.03% on Wednesday while the first phase reported 55.69% turnout of voters.
