The counting for votes for Bihar MLC polls is underway on Thursday and the announcements began with JD (U)’s Dinesh Singh bagging the Muzaffarpur seat. BJP’s Rajiv Kumar defeated RJD”s candidate in Gopalganj.
BJP fought the polls on 12 seats while JD(U) contested on 11 seats. Lok Janshakti party contested on one seat. JDU candidate Rekha Kumari won the Sitamarhi seat while Padhupati Paras won Vaishali and RJD also bagged Patna, Gaya and East Champaran seats.
On Monday, 24 MLC (members of legislative council) constituencies of the total 75, went to polls. These 24 seats had been vacant since July 2021.
