Assembly poll result 2022 highlights: BJP bags UP, Uttrakhand, Goa and Manipur; AAP sweeps Punjab

The final result for counting of the votes cast over last few weeks are out and BJP has emerged as the clear winner in four of the five states that went to polls this year. The Election Commission of India has shared final results and BJP bagged 255 seats in UP, 20 in Goa, 32 in Manipur and 47 in Uttrakhand. The central ruling party was limited to two seats in Punjab where AAP swept the poll results with 92 seats.

Here are the highlights of how things developed through the day on Thursday:

Uttar Pradesh

7:45pm: BJP won 150 seats and is now leading on 103 seats. Congress has only secured one seat in the state till now.

6pm: BJP won 50 seats and is leading on 177 seats. Samajwadi Party has secured 20 seats.

4:15pm: BJP has won 13 seats.

4pm: BJP has won all five seats for which the results have been announced, and the incumbent party is also leading on 247 of the 403 total seats in the state. Akhilesh Yadav’s Samajwadi Party is leading on 113 seats while Apna Dal is leading on 12 seats.

Punjab

7:30pm: AAP won 92 and Congress 18 seats in the state. BJP won two and Akali Dal three seats in the state.

5pm: AAP won 89 while Congress secured 17 seats.

4:15pm: AAP won 64 and Congress 11 seats while BJP bagged two seats in the state.

4pm: Bhagwant Mann addresses a rally as ECI declared results for 65 seats and his party AAP won 54 of those. BJP and Akali Dal won one seat each and Congress won eight.

3pm: AAP wins 34 seats in the state.

Goa
5:30pm: Congress won 10 and BJP 20 seats in the state while AAP has two confirmed seats.

4:15pm: Congress won six seats.

4pm: BJP has won 14 of the 24 seats for which the final results have been declared and is leading on six. Congress has won five seats while three others were bagged by independent candidates. AAP has won seat and is leading on one as well.

Uttrakhand

7:15pm: BJP won 37 seats in the state and Congress secured 16 seats.

4:15pm: BJP won five and Congress three seats.

4pm: BJP has won three seats and is leading on 45 seats in the state. The Congress has also won three seats and is leading on 15 others.

Manipur

8pm: BJP won 26 seats while National People Party and Janata Dal secured six each.

4pm: BJP has won 12 seats and is leading on 12 while Janata Dal has won three and is leading on three seats in the state. The Congress has won two seats and us leading on two.
