Of the 116 seats for which the results have been announced, the Aam Admi Party has won 91 in Punjab and is leading on three seats. The Indian National Congress stood a distant second with 18 seats. Bharatiya Janata Party had a rather dismal show and has secured only two seats in the state till the latest 7 pm update from the Election Commission of India.
Responding to the way results are panning out, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has said that it is proof that people have liked Kejriwal model of governance. “The people of Punjab haven’t voted for AAP, they have given AAP a chance.”
The official handle of AAP tweeted a video of Bhagwant Mann, from one of his rally speeches when he had promised that if his party came to power, government offices would have pictures of Bhagat Singh and Dr Ambedkar, not chief minister of the state.
