Mrs and Mr Kohli’s Sahil Vedoliyaa: A homemaker shouldn’t be be embarrassed if it’s a man

How many real life married couples do we see where the wife goes to work and the husband has taken up the responsibility of household chores/is a homemaker? Very few or maybe none at all, right? It’s usually a shocking concept for society, but we’re changing slowly and steadily, working towards being more inclusive and less gender agnostic in our approach.

Playing a stay-at-home husband while his wife goes out to work, Sahil Vedoliyaa talks about role reversal and said, “In the series ‘Mrs & Mr Kohli’, I play a husband who stays at home, cooks and cleans while my wife goes out to work. I honestly don’t find gender roles relevant and I think people should stop stereotyping. It’s a decision people make as a family and is something that should be confined to that space. Women are doing very well for themselves – they can do everything single handedly and men, too, have learnt to balance that out. I, myself help out with chores and don’t think it’s a big deal. Personally, I feel that being a homemaker shouldn’t be something to be embarrassed about.”

Mrs & Mr Kohli is a rom-com that takes us through the journey of an extraordinary couple – Sara & Sapan Kohli (essayed by Sara Gurpal and Sahil Vedoliyaa) and their different perspective of love, expectations, fears, insecurities and the everyday shenanigans that this role reversal brings to their life. This 6 episodic series is written by Harsh Rana and directed by Dheeraj Padhiyar.
